
Book about a little known Confederate raid in Vermont published. Cathryn Prince’s new book recounts the 1864 raid in St. Albans, Vt., during the height of the Civil War.
This 'haversack' contains news articles that may be of interest to Civil War buffs. (A haversack was a canvas bag, about a foot square, used to carry a soldier's rations. The word derives from Middle German for 'oat bag', and refers to the bag used for feeding oats to horses.)
